  4. Thanks for this. I had previously installed 11g R2 under Windows 7, but I was having a lot of trouble getting 12c installed on Windows 8 …. until I found this blog post! So far so good. I am 62% of the way through the “Database Configuation Assistant” stage. I would just add two little details: 1. It looks like it’s probably a good idea to turn the firewall off during the whole installation process (I did not, and there were at least two points at which I had to “allow access” manually during the installation). 2. If during the installation you encounter any “file not found” errors, this is (probably) due to the downloaded files being corrupted – so just download them over again! Thanks again!

  5. Hi,

I am trying to install Oracle 12c and could not get my installation past the 59% progress..and I have this message in the Details box.

“Verifying whether Central Inventory is locked by any other OUI session…
    Central Inventory is not locked.”

    Please help!!

    Thanks,

    Han

  6. I have made several attempts to install but each time it get to the 59% mark it sits for hours. Is this normal how long does a typical install take?

    • That’s strange. It should not happen. Are you trying to install it on certified version of windows ?
Installation should take about 30 minutes.

  7. This message appears to me in the last installation process I do not know what is required, for example, you file a minus?
    the file not foun:E:\app\USER\product\12.1.0\dbhome_1\ctx\admin\dr0ulitb\.sql.sbs

  8. Thank you for all the info. I previously installed 11g R2 under Windows 7. Now, I am trying to install 12c on Windows 8, but I got an error message [INS-30131] in the stage of Software Update, the error comeup after “Select “Skip software updates” and click “Next” button.. I appreciate if you have the solution.

    • According to metalink on Windows. I suggest to download again software possible corruption.

      1. Enable administrative share for C$ (Please check with your System Admin to do this or See Microsoft document http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314984)

      2. Check that it is ok:
      – net use \\\c$ should work
      – the current user (i.e. user in administrator group) should have all privileges on the default share

      3. Retry the installation

      4. Remove the administrative share again

  9. Yes me too Oracle instalation process 09 > takes for about 59% and stops … Can any body help me for this

    in details i get ::
    Updating Registry key ‘HKEY_LOCAL_MECHINE/SOFTWERE/ORACLE/KEY_Oradb12Home1’

    • Please tell me which version of windows ? I can’t reproduce this error. I couldn’t find anything about it on Oracle metalink.

    • I got stuck at 59 percent mark. Thelast two lines in the details window are
      updating registry key ‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ORACLE/KEY_OraDB12Home1’
      updating registry key ‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ORACLE/KEY_OraDB12Home1’

Do you know the solution to this

  10. I installed oracle 12c on my windows 8 but couldnt connect to database, i was getting error-12560.
Can some1 help me how to UNINSTALL the oracle??

    • If your installation has finished properly your problem are settings in network like: listener.ora, sqlnet.ora, tnsnames.ora. You need to verify it.

  11. I installed the db successfully but I cant create a connection. I did exactly as you had stated but whenever I tried to create a connection with my system name as user and the password I provided during installation and selected SID as ORA12C I am getting the notification: invalid username/password logon denied. please give a solution. I cant figure out what username to put coz I havent provided any duringinstallation except for the password and SID.

    • Just start cmd as administrator, set ORACLE_SID, connect as sys as sysdba using OS identification (no password required), then change password for user sys

      cmd> set ORACLE_SID=ORA12C
      cmd> sqlplus / as sysdba
      SQL> alter user sys identified by new_password;

then sys password should be changed for container database

      Cheers
      Tomasz

      • I’ve tried ur installation process and tried the user altered in cmd, still it showed an error invalid username and password.

  12. I downloaded Oracle 12C Enterprice from http://www.Oracle.com on June 17, 2014 at 10:15am
I unzipped winx64_12c_database_1of2 and winx64_12c_database_2of2 into C:\Oracle12C folder. I have admin rights on the system. Please note that I have installed and managed Oracle10g, 11g even in a production environment.

I right clicked on winx64_12c_database_1of2\database\setup.exe and selected Run as Administrator
and followed on the instructions the following errors occured.

when the installtion got to 36%, I got error
    File not found C:\Oracle12C\product\12.1.0\dbhome_1\ctx\admin\dr0ulib.sql.sbs

When it got @47% , I got another error
    File not found C:\Oracle12C\product\12.1.0\dbhome_1\rdbms\install\sbs\trcsess.bat

Then @59%, I got another error
    File not found C:\Oracle12C\product\12.1.0\dbhome_1\demo\schema\mk_dir.sql.sbs

And it never went beyond 59%.

I got the same set of error messages on Windows 8.1 and WIndows 7 Pro.
What is the cause of this problem and how can I solve it?

    • The reason for this error is that you unzipped the files in two separate folders. Unzip the file in one folder and make sure to unzip the second file in the stage folder of the first unzipped file. This will surely work.

        First thanks to the blog.
this worked for me. I went through several hungups during installation. Finally worked.

        • Hi Sir
I am also facing the same issue. So I kept the 2nd zip file in stage folder, but again i am getting this error File not found I:\app\dipak\product\12.1.0\dbhome_1\ctx\admin\dr0ulib.sql.sbs

    • It’s seems to me that the problem is related to wrongly downloaded installation files or you didn’t unzip both
      winx64_12c_database_1of2.zip – database software
      winx64_12c_database_2of2.zip – database software
      to the same directory.

      • When unzipping, do them apart and then look for the folder named in #2, copy them and place in the same name folder in #1. That would solve your problem

  13. It would be really nice if someone can show how to solve the many installation errors. Seems like many ask the same question but no replies. All I see are how to install.

    • I count on all of you :). I’m not able to reproduce each case ! Next it’s very important to read the beginning of the post to find which binary version should be used for a given version of windows. It’s very important ! Non supported versions can fail.

      Regards
      Tomasz

  14. I have installed as you explained but when i go for SQL plus it asks for password and username. I don’t know what they are.
Here are the steps i perform:-
    go to search
    enter SQL Plus
a prompt is open asking for username and password
    I am running windows 8.1 64bit
p.s I used a desktop class rather than a server class

  15. I have successfully installed 12c on a windows server 2012 but i would just like to know why when i chose to use the Use Existing Windows User in the Specify Home User page (step11), when i go to the NET configuration assistant, the windows home account password is not being accepted. Whereas if you chose the Use Windows Built- in Account, it would skip the password checking process and directly be able to create the listener account.. It seems there is a problem when choosing to create a new windows account and using the existing account choices..

    • Be patient it starts DBCA you should see the screen in a moment. It doesn’t hang. Just do ALT-TAB to see the new screen.

      Regards
      Tomasz

      • Whoops, I left it for whole night to get this process to complete. I woke up and checked, Same 86%. Then again waited for 2 hours, same result.

Accidentally, I clicked Alt+Tab; there i found this progress is waiting for my response. Then, I given my response (just its about account information). then, the progress is reached 100%.

        Thanks admin for your response.

  16. Hi Friends,

    Please follow this
Fixing missing files in Oracle 12c installation

Oracle 12c has a pretty dumb way of packaging the installer into two zip files along with the instructions of extracting the two zip files into one directory. This is commonly misunderstood as putting winx64_12c_database_1of2directory and winx64_12c_database_2of2 directory in the one directory say oracle. This is also due to the default setting of the common extraction tools, such as Winzip etc.
However on using this instruction when the installation is started using thesetup.exe the following error is returned:

    pic1

Files, such as dr0ulib.sql.sbs are reported by the installer as not found. To solve these you need to do the following:

    1) Abort the current installer
    2) Open the winx64_12c_database_2of2 directory and navigate to ..\winx64_12c_database_2of2\database\stage\Components directory copy all the files

    3) Paste all files to the following location..\winx64_12c_database_1of2\database\stage\Components

Now run the setup.exe “Run as administrator” and follow the instructions to complete the installation without error

    • Thank you Satish, that was a perfect answer.
I was getting the below errors during the Oracle 12c installation in windows 7.
      File not found …\dr0ulib.sql.sbs
      File not found …\trcsess.bat
      File not found …\mk_dir.sql.sbs

Got it resolved by extracting the \database\stage\Components folder from \winx64_12c_database_2of2 and merging with ..\winx64_12c_database_1of2\database\stage\Components.

  17. just finished installation of 12c. Screen shots were really helpful. Thanks a lot.
I still need to establish connection to Oracle.

  18. Able to connect via sqlplus with SYS, but from OE I am unable to connect. Getting error
Connection with database failed. Database instance might be down. Try again once it is up.
Is there any thing need to install or any settings in OE, appreciate any help
